An important thing you can do to start attracting yourself to photographers who hire assistants is to list yourself on as many of the internet photography sites that keep databases of freelancers working in the photo industry. Many of the local ASMP sites have listings. On a wider scope, check out 1ProPhoto and Photocrew. The cool thing about these sites is that there are gobs of other info and resources that will help you get the ball rolling on your photo assisting career. James at 1ProPhoto gets many kudos for the development and progress of his site. There are video tutorials, pdf’s, forums, workshops, industry links, and of course a place where you can list your services as a freelance photo assistant — for free! Now, don’t just stop at these that I have listed here. There are many others out there that you can find by searching online. I will also post more in the links section as I continue building my blog.

Photographically Speaking…
"Most people stiffen with self-consciousness when they pose for a photograph. Lighting and fine camera equipment are useless if the photographer cannot make them drop the mask, at least for a moment, so he can capture on his film their real, undistorted personality and character.
